Mumbai, June 18, 2026: The Somaia Family Foundation was officially launched in Mumbai through a deeply moving evening that celebrated the enduring legacy of Ms. Zarna Somaia and reaffirmed the family’s commitment to transforming the future of children through conscious education.
The event marked the unveiling of the Somaia Dreamtime Conscious Education Fund, an initiative dedicated to supporting access to transformative learning opportunities and nurturing the potential that exists within every child.
Bringing together family, friends, educators, philanthropists, artists and supporters, the evening reflected the Foundation’s belief that education must go beyond academics to nurture creativity, emotional intelligence, self-awareness and human potential. The launch was attended by several prominent personalities including Jackie Shroff, Pooja Bedi, Rhea Chakraborty, Simone Singh, Tina and Anil Ambani, Ayesha Jhulka and other distinguished guests from across the worlds of entertainment, business and philanthropy.
A defining highlight of the launch was the collaboration with internationally acclaimed artist Aigerim Bektayeva from Kazakhstan, whose artistic philosophy resonated deeply with the Foundation’s mission. Through her work, Aigerim explores the idea that every child carries within them a spark of genius waiting to be nurtured through acceptance, encouragement and opportunity. Her artworks served as powerful visual metaphors for the transformative impact of education and hope.
Speaking at the launch, Lina Ashar, educator and founder of Dreamtime Learning, formally introduced the Somaia Family Foundation and unveiled the Somaia Dreamtime Conscious Education Fund. The evening also featured moving performances by learners from the Dreamtime Learning community, underscoring the life-changing impact that conscious education can have on young minds.
Reflecting on her association with the Foundation, Aigerim Bektayeva shared that her connection with the Somaia family emerged from a shared belief in the limitless potential of children. She described the Foundation as a living embodiment of Ms. Zarna Somaia’s philosophy that legacy is not a relic of the past, but a force that shapes the future. Through the donation and exhibition of her artworks, Aigerim contributed to the Fund’s mission of helping children’s dreams find the support they need to flourish.
The evening also featured a silent auction of selected artworks by Aigerim Bektayeva, with proceeds supporting the Foundation’s educational initiatives and outreach programmes. Guests were invited to participate in a symbolic reflection exercise, reinforcing the collective responsibility of creating brighter futures for the next generation.
