Ollie Pope made history in England by hitting a double century, broke 41 years old record

In the only Test match against Ireland, Ollie Pope has created history in Test cricket. Ollie Pope has become the fastest batsman to score a double century on the soil of England. During England’s first innings, Pope hit a 207-ball double century, the fastest double century by any batsman in England. 

Pope did this feat on 207 balls. Earlier this record was held by Ian Botham of England. In 1982, Botham scored a double century while playing Test in England in 220 balls. At the same time, in the year 1984, while playing in England, Garden Greenidge scored a double century in 232 balls. While Pope scored an inning of 205 runs off 208 balls, Ben Duckett managed to score 182 runs off 178 balls. England had declared the innings by scoring 524 runs in their first innings. 

Duckett and Pope together shared a 252-run partnership for the second wicket. On the other hand, Ireland had scored 172 runs in the first innings. At the same time, till this news, Ireland had scored 97 runs for 3 wickets in their second innings till the end of the second day’s play. Ireland’s team is 255 runs behind from England. On the other hand, talk about the fastest double century in Test cricket, then New Zealand’s Nathan Astle did a wonderful job of scoring a double century in Test off 153 balls.
